Police find body believed to be missing Phoenix woman

PHOENIX – Investigators discovered a body Thursday that is believed to be a Phoenix woman who went missing last month, according to authorities.

Phoenix police received information Wednesday about the potential location of 57-year-old Julie Concialdi, who went missing Sept. 4, Phoenix police spokeswoman Mercedes Fortune said at a press briefing Thursday night.

“We’re always hoping that we find someone safe, and our hope is that we always have a good ending or outcome to any investigation,” Fortune said. “Unfortunately, we found a body that we believe is Julie.”

Julie Concialdi’s husband, 57-year-old Joseph Concialdi, was taken into custody Sept. 15 and booked on a first-degree murder charge in connection with her death.

Officers arrived to an open desert area near 56th Street and Deer Valley Road around 3 p.m. Thursday where they found a body that matched Julie Concialdi’s description.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death and officially identify the recovered body.

Police previously said forensic evidence led them to believe Julie Concialdi was a homicide victim.

Court documents described evidence of a sanitized crime scene at the couple’s Phoenix home with blood that matched the woman’s DNA.

The investigation is still ongoing.
