Tempe man arrested on suspicion of sexual conduct, molestation of minor

PHOENIX — A Tempe man was charged with sexual expatiation of a minor, sexual conduct with a minor and molestation of a child, authorities announced Friday.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced 20-year-old Michael William Spatz was arrested on June 26 for the charges.

Spatz is accused of abusing an 11-month-old male child multiple times and recording himself committing the abuse.

According to court documents, Spatz allegedly distributed the videos. They were discovered in Canada by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Homeland Security Investigations, an investigative branch of the Department of Homeland Security, conducted the investigation.

The victim is currently residing with his mother, and the Arizona Department of Child Safety has been notified. They are providing services to the victim and his family.

Spatz is currently being held on a $750,000 bond pending the resolution of the case.

He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 24.
