PHOENIX — A 28-year-old man was arrested in connection with a Phoenix apartment stabbing that left three dead, authorities said Wednesday.

Mulu Yeman-Merach was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the June 28 killings of an 18-year-old woman and two children, ages 9 and 7.

Yeman-Merach, who suffered serious injuries, was arrested Tuesday after he was released from a local hospital, police said.

Police responded to a welfare check and possible stabbing near the area of 19th and Glendale avenues when they found Yeman-Merach and the three victims inside the apartment.
