Phoenix Zoo’s ‘Cruise the Zoo’ event returning ahead of holiday weekend

PHOENIX — In celebration of the Fourth of July, Phoenix Zoo guests will once again have the opportunity to enjoy the facility’s offerings from within the comfort of their own vehicles.

Cruise the Zoo is scheduled for 7 a.m. until noon Thursday through Monday, during which time the park will be closed to on-foot visitors, according to the zoo’s website.

A maximum of 450 tickets are available for each day and must be purchased beforehand online.

Tickets for Friday and Saturday are currently sold out.

Vehicles will not be permitted to enter the park beyond 11 a.m. and must be no larger than 266″ L x 81″ W x 74″ H — about the size of a long bed truck.

The Phoenix Zoo first introduced the Cruise the Zoo experience to guests in May when the facility was still closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The vehicle tours had initially only been scheduled for two separate weekends but additional dates were quickly added due to demand.

The next scheduled dates for Cruise the Zoo are Aug. 6-10.

Following more than three months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, the zoo reopened to members on June 13-14 before allowing the general public admission on June 15.
