Interstate 17 in Phoenix reopened after crash involving street sweeper

Northbound traffic on Interstate 17 in north Phoenix was shut down Thursday morning for about three hours after a crash involving a street sweeper, authorities said.

PHOENIX – Northbound traffic on Interstate 17 in north Phoenix was shut down Thursday morning for about three hours after a crash involving a street sweeper, authorities said.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the freeway was closed at Cactus Road around 10:30 a.m.

Two people were hospitalized after a passenger vehicle apparently hit a street sweeper, and the sweeper rolled over, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The freeway reopened at about 1:45 p.m.

No other information was immediately available.
