Finance website ranks Arizona among best states for working from home

PHOENIX — Going to work has a different feel these days.

Since Gov. Doug Ducey’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” executive order intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus went into effect on March 31, Arizonans have had to adjust where they are spending their office hours.

But according to WalletHub, the Grand Canyon State ranked No. 6 of the 50 states plus Washington D.C. when it comes to working from home.

The personal finance website judged each state in two categories: work environment and living environment.

Work environment includes those already working from before the COVID-19 outbreak, the share of potential telecommuters, households’ internet access and cybersecurity.

Arizona came in at No. 8 in this metric.

Living environment was based on the average cost of electricity and internet, as well as how big and spacious a place of residence is.

WalletHub deemed Arizona to be the 13th-best state in the category.

Delaware was crowned the best state to work from home by the personal finance website, while Hawaii and Alaska capped off the last of the rankings.

On Wednesday, Gov. Ducey said he will wait until next week to make a decision on the state’s expiring “stay-at-home” order, which is set to last until at least April 30.
