Phoenix officers reunite following shooting that killed colleague Carnicle

PHOENIX — Two officers in the Phoenix Police Department reunited one week after a shooting led to their hospitalization and the death of one of their colleagues.

Officer Marissa Dowhan was greeted by Officer Alicia Hubert on Sunday following her release from the hospital.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call in a neighborhood near 40th Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road on March 29.

Commander Greg Carnicle was shot and killed at the scene and both officers Downhan and Hubert were taken to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Carnicle was the first commander in the department’s history to be killed on duty.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the tribute will only be attended by immediate family.

The celebration of Cmdr. Carnicle’s life will be livestreamed via the Phoenix Police Department.
