Family-friendly Mesa museums to offer free admission for 1 day

PHOENIX — Two of downtown Mesa’s museums will be offering free admission as part of the city’s Museum Discovery Series.

The Arizona Museum of Natural History and the i.d.e.a. Museum will be open to visitors free of charge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 15, according to a press release.

The museum features roaring dinosaurs, a lost Dutchman’s mine and an ancient Hohokam village through which visitors can walk.

The i.d.e.a. Museum has many hands-on activities and exhibitions, including a HUB gallery, where attendees can turn recycled materials into art, create music and explore a jungle-themed black light room.

If either museum begins to near capacity, staff will administer timed tickets to be handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Both museums participate in Museums for All, an admission program that offers discounted pricing for economically challenged families.

To qualify for a $2 admission per person — up to a family of six — attendees must present an Electron Benefits Transfer card.
