Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica coming to State Farm Stadium

PHOENIX — State Farm Stadium in Glendale will host a replica version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall for four days.

The traveling wall is an 80%-scale replica of the permanent wall located in Washington, D.C.

It will sit in the Great Lawn of State Farm Stadium, beginning with an opening ceremony at 1 p.m. on Thursday, and remain open to the public for 24 hours a day until 3 p.m. on Sunday.

“This is a great opportunity for people to pay tribute to those who died serving our country. If you’ve never had an opportunity to visit the wall in Washington, D.C., I would strongly encourage you to come out and visit while it is here,” said Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers in a press release.

While the wall itself will be open 24/7 to the public, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. visitors will be able to access an onsite database to make finding names on the wall easier.

The wall is sponsored by the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, a non-government affiliated, veteran-owned project that travels the country providing people the opportunity to honor those lost in the Vietnam War who don’t have the opportunity to visit the nation’s capital.

In September, the city of Peoria hosted the wall at Rio Vista Community Park.
