The Weekly DownLloyd: Locals want it both ways and are wasting time
As the producer of Mac & Gaydos this is my own unique, weird, wacky and, at times, warped look at the week's seven biggest stories.

There’s two things I don’t like, people who want to have things both ways and those who waste my time.
In life, it’s simple, it’s either THIS or THAT, you can’t complain about something when it’s one way and then when you get your way, complain about that too.
Let me explain, Phoenix spent a ton of dough to increase the size of its convention center and add hotel rooms. Great, right? Must mean business is booming and there’s a need, yeah? Wrong.
Turns out Phoenix hosted fewer conventions last year than in 2005 and downtown hotels had an occupancy rate of about 60 percent last year.
When the Super Bowl rolls into town early next year, the last thing I want to hear is that more hotels are needed downtown. If they’re sitting half-empty most of the time, the city doesn’t need more hotel rooms. Maybe it needs fewer.
So that’s how people in this lovely state are trying to have it both ways, now how are they wasting my time? A few ways…
A new poll is out that says Senator McCain is the least popular U.S. senator.
Like Sen. McCain or not, he’s been elected to the Senate five times. I find it hard to believe a fifth term Senator is the least popular.
When the time comes for Sen. McCain to decide to run again, I assure you if he chooses to run, he’ll be re-elected. Voters love to complain when our elected officials are in office but they don’t do anything to change things when they have a chance at the polls. McCain is well known and an easy name to spit venom at, but at the end of the day he’s done a lot of good for the state of Arizona.
Know how else your time is being wasted? After SB 1062 was pushed to the Governor’s desk a week or so ago, I started to wonder if state officials have a sense for what their constituents want or if they’re just sitting around coming up with more useless laws.
Have you ever sat down to look at some of the proposed House and Senate Bills? HB 2554 would’ve forced the Arizona Corporation Commission to post notices on its website instead of making them be published in newspapers. Who comes up with this stuff? Why do these notices have to be published in newspapers in the first place? What’s a newspaper? Sigh.
