Chandler school bus hit in multiple-vehicle accident

PHOENIX – A multiple-vehicle accident Friday in Chandler sent a teenager, a school bus driver and another adult to the hospital with minor injuries.

The bus carrying 16 students was on its way to Hamilton High School when it was hit in a chain-reaction accident near Queen Creek Road and Arizona Avenue.

Police said an SUV smashed into a blue car around 7 a.m. The impact propelled the sedan into the southbound bus. That driver was also taken to the hospital.

The rest of the students on the bus were evaluated by fire department personnel, Sgt. Jason McClimans said.

They were given the OK to go to campus.

The area was closed to traffic for the investigation. Drivers were advised to avoid the neighborhood or find alternate routes.
