Developing world awaits system which allows Bill Gates to drink water made of human waste
An brilliantly-engineered system could change the world, thanks to Bill Gates' challenge.
This is amazing. Bill Gates is worth $81 billion. Here, he drinks a glass of water made of human waste. Why? Certainly he can afford to bathe in Evian 12 times a day.
Well, because he challenged brilliant engineers to create a simple, all-in-one processor for the developing world, where access to safe sanitation can be sparse. And they delivered.
This thing — this Janicki Omniprocessor, named for one of the engineers who built the thing — essentially takes sewer content and creates electricity, pathogen-free ash and clean drinking water.
Remarkable. And possibly world-changingly so.
