PHOENIX — Mother Bunch Brewing in downtown Phoenix has suddenly closed its doors after five years in business.

Co-owner Julie Meeker announced the shutdown of the restaurant on Seventh and Garfield streets in a Jan. 6 Facebook post.

“I want to personally thank all of our great staff and especially all of the wonderful and amazing people I have had the chance to meet over the last five years,” she said in the post.

“I will never regret this opportunity to share my love of craft beer and spread the story of women in brewing.”

The brewery, which Meeker ran with her husband Jimmie McBride, opened in September 2014.

Meeker did not give a reason for the closure but said it was the hardest decision of her life.

The menu included brunch, lunch and dinner, featuring beer-infused macaroni and cheese, bacon-grease popcorn, and meat and cheese boards.

Mother Bunch also served its own brews, including a guava and strawberry Indian pale ale, a Chai milk stout and a smoked cherry porter.
