Suspect charged with manslaughter following fatal collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX — One man was left dead and another was charged with manslaughter following a collision at 51st Avenue and Union Hills Drive early on Saturday morning.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, 22-year-old Anthony Naccarelli was pronounced dead after his Ford Focus was rear-ended into a traffic light pole by 33-year-old Matthew Schwartz’s Chevrolet Cruze.

Schwartz remained on the scene after the engine of his Cruze caught fire and was charged with manslaughter, a Class 2 felony.

Police said that Schwartz showed signs of impairment.

The intersection at 51st Avenue and Union Hills Drive was closed for much of Saturday morning and into the afternoon.

Authorities said an investigation remains ongoing.
