Phoenix animal shelter offering Thanksgiving, Black Friday camps

PHOENIX — Looking for a way to give back, as well as give thanks, this week?

The Arizona Animal Welfare League, near 40th and Washington streets in Phoenix, is offering volunteer camps on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

On Thursday, kids ages 8-17 can participate in a junior volunteer camp. It runs from 9 a.m. to noon. and costs $30 per child.

Friday is for families who’d like to volunteer. It costs $15 per adult or child ages 6-17 and runs from 10 a.m. to noon.

Activities, led by a trained educator, will include cleaning cat and dog living spaces, sorting and folding laundry, socializing the animals and more.

Can’t make it this week? The shelter holds volunteer camps on weekends throughout the year.

The Arizona Animal Welfare League was founded in 1971 and is the state’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter.
