I-10 crash involving semitruck causes delays during rush hour

A crash involving a semitruck on Interstate 10 had eastbound traffic in Phoenix narrowed down to one lane Friday morning.

PHOENIX — A crash involving a semitruck on Interstate 10 had eastbound traffic in Phoenix narrowed down to one lane Friday morning.

The crash at 16th Street around 7 a.m. left only the right lane open, causing rush-hour traffic backups.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the HOV lane and two left lanes were reopened around 8 a.m., but traffic was still moving very slowly. All lanes were reopened by around 9:45 a.m.

The Arizona Department of Transportation told drivers to consider taking an alternate route.

DPS said a driver “flew across lanes” and hit the truck, knocking the cab off its chassis. The agency said no one was injured.

There was no estimated time for the other lanes to reopen.
