Hold on to that feeling: Journey to stop in Phoenix with Pretenders in 2020

PHOENIX – Raise your hand if you know all the words to “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

Just what we thought.

You’ll have the chance to join in on one of rock music’s greatest singalongs when Journey stops in Phoenix next year.

The Rock and Roll Hall Famers will perform at Ak-Chin Pavilion on June 1 as part of a four-month, 60-plus-show North American tour with special guests The Pretenders.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. The first of several presales begins Monday at 10 a.m.

Founding members Neal Schon (guitar) and Ross Valory (bass) plus longtime members Jonathan Cain (keyboards) and Steve Smith (drums) will take the stage behind Arnal Pineda, who’s been belting out Journey’s signature vocals for more than a decade.

With “Lights,” “Faithfully,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Open Arms,” “Wheel in the Sky,” “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” and more, Journey was a hit-making machine in the ‘80s and remains an major force in classic rock.

The Pretenders had their own strong run as a new wave juggernaut during the same era, with “Back on the Chain Gang,” “Brass in Pocket,” “Don’t Get Me Wrong,” “My City Was Gone” and “Middle of the Road.”

Journey’s last Phoenix appearance was a co-headlining show with the Def Leppard at Talking Stick Resort Arena in September 2018.
