The U.S. Supreme Court started its term this week.

Paul Bender is probably Arizona’s foremost expert on the Supreme Court. Professor Bender sat down with Think Tank and reviewed last term’s decisions and gave us a preview of the cases most likely to dominate our headlines this year.

Last year, the court ruled on several cases involving political gerrymandering, the legality of asking about citizenship in the U.S. Census and the legality of having religious symbols on public lands.

This year, the court will hear cases involving discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and the legality of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program for “Dreamers.” And, in a case that will probably end up in the Supreme Court at some point, a lower court ruled on the legality of Harvard University considering race as a factor in admission decisions.

All this and more in this week’s Think Tank.

The Think Tank airs on KTAR News 92.3 FM on Sunday at 1-2 p.m. and repeats at 9-10 p.m.
