No officers shot after man fires gun at Phoenix police

PHOENIX — A man who fired a gun at Phoenix officers following a domestic dispute with his former girlfriend Saturday took his life after a 3-hour standoff, authorities said.

Phoenix police responded to an apartment near Greenway Parkway and Seventh Street at approximately 12:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired.

The suspect fired several shots in the apartment before firing at officers. A patrol vehicle was hit several times by the gunfire, police said.

No officers were injured or fired their weapons during the incident, according to police.

The man then retreated into the apartment and barricaded himself for approximately three hours before officers entered and found him dead.

Two dogs were also found dead in the apartment, police said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
