PHOENIX – An East Valley student was hospitalized after a car-pedestrian accident outside her high school Tuesday, authorities said.
Chandler police first said she suffered serious head injuries, but later said she only suffered minor injuries and will make a full recovery.
The 15-year-old girl, a student at Chandler High School, was crossing Arizona Avenue on a green light near the school around 3:30 p.m.
She was hit by a Volkswagen that turned right from Erie Street onto northbound Arizona Avenue, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle was a 16-year-old Chandler High student who stayed on the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Traffic in the area was temporarily restricted while the crash was under investigation by the police department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit.
