PHOENIX — The Arizona Commerce Authority announced last week that private companies in the state have committed to creating a record number of new jobs.

The agency worked with 105 companies to rack up a total of 24,422 projected new jobs over the next five years, according to its fiscal year 2019 report.

The agency said in a press release that its goal was to help create 16,000 jobs within the fiscal year.

The projected new jobs have an average annual salary of more than $66,000.

The businesses also committed to investing $2.6 billion in the state in the same time frame.

“Companies from all over the world have discovered that there’s no better place than Arizona to expand or scale a business,” Gov. Doug Ducey said in the release.

“As a result, Arizona has become a jobs juggernaut and our economy is booming.”

The state has added more than 300,000 new private-sector jobs since 2015, the ACA said in the release.
