Police arrest Phoenix-area teen accused of posting online threat

PHOENIX – Police in Tempe and Phoenix arrested a teenager Thursday accused of posting a threat on social media.

Officials at Mountain Pointe High School said, in a note at the Tempe Unified School District website, that the school had been made aware of the post that other students were sharing.

The teen’s post “implies there will be a school shooting,” the note read at 6:45 p.m., but the threat wasn’t specific to Mountain Pointe.

Administrators said authorities were investigating. Three hours later the note followed up with news of an arrest.

School was scheduled for a regular session Friday, and extra Tempe and Phoenix officers were going to be on campus, ABC15 reported.

Mountain Pointe is in Phoenix, near the Tempe border.
