4 pedestrians hurt in separate car incidents in Phoenix

PHOENIX – Four people were hit by cars in separate incidents in Phoenix early Thursday, police said.

A pedestrian was struck near 51st and Campbell avenues, between Indian School and Camelback roads around 2:30 a.m, according to ABC15.

The pedestrian was seriously injured. Police initially said the crash was fatal but later said the victim was alive and hospitalized.

At about the same time near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road, a hit-and-run left three men injured.

A spokesman for the Phoenix Fire Department said in an email that one of the injured was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The other two suffered minor injuries.

Witnesses told police that a dark-colored SUV drove onto the sidewalk and hit the trio. The driver took off after the collision.

No other details in either case were immediately available.
