PHOENIX — A Winslow man was arrested last month for allegedly using a stolen identity to buy a luxury sports car.

Randall Cepi, a 31-year-old car dealership employee, was accused of using a customer’s personal information to obtain a loan, according to an Arizona Department of Transportation press release.

He also allegedly forged the victim’s signature on documents he used to buy a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette in Flagstaff.

The victim received insurance and loan information a few weeks later for a vehicle she didn’t own, so she filed a complaint with ADOT, which informed the Flagstaff dealership.

When the dealership ordered Cepi to return the car, he abandoned it at his workplace and fled.

ADOT detectives brought the case before a grand jury and a felony warrant was issued for Cepi’s arrest.

He was found working at a dealership in Gallup, New Mexico, and arrested July 29.

He will be extradited to Arizona, where he faces charges of fraud, forgery, theft of a means of transportation and identity theft.
