More Valley freeways to be closed this weekend for improvement work

PHOENIX — A handful of Valley freeway sections will be closed this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed between 67th and 43rd avenues in west Phoenix between 9 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday for bridge work as part of the construction of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues will also be closed.

Eastbound I-10 drivers west of State Route 85 not planning to stop in Phoenix can avoid the closure by detouring on southbound SR 85 in Buckeye to eastbound Interstate 8 to reach I-10 in the Casa Grande area, per ADOT.

Other closures scheduled were:

Nineteenth Avenue will be shut down in both directions at Loop 101 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge construction as part of freeway widening project.

Southbound Loop 101 Price on- and off-ramps will be closed at Ray and Elliot roads, and the northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Warner Road and off-ramp at Elliot Road will be blocked from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a freeway widening project. The right lanes on Loop 101 will also be off limits in areas between the ramps.

The westbound Loop 101 Pima will be closed between 56th Street and State Route 51 in northeast Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday for a freeway widening project.

The westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 64th street will also be closed.

Southbound Interstate 17 will be closed at Thomas Road from 11 p.m. Sunday to 3 a.m. Monday for freeway maintenance.

The southbound I-17 on-ramp at Indian School Road will also be closed.

Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work.
