Man accused of video voyeurism in Buckeye Walmart bathroom

PHOENIX – Police arrested a man accused of using his cellphone to take video of a teenage boy in a West Valley Walmart bathroom Tuesday afternoon.

Alan J. Kaufman, 33, faces felony counts of voyeurism and unlawful recording, Buckeye police said in a press release Wednesday.

Kaufman works as a district manager for a company that runs salons inside Walmarts, police said.

The 17-year-old victim was using the bathroom in the store at Watson and Yuma roads when he saw a phone lifted above the stall wall. He knocked the phone to the floor, picked it up, left the bathroom and notified his mother, who called police.

The cellphone contained video that was consistent with the victim’s description.

Kaufman remained on the scene and told police he’d arranged online to take video of somebody and thought the teen was that person.

Police said he admitted to having engaged in the activity at a Walmart once previously.
