Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by car in Tempe

PHOENIX — A man has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Tempe on Saturday night.

According to Tempe police, the incident occurred near Rural Road and Southern Avenue around 6:25 p.m.

The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle while crossing against the light, officers say.

Tempe police said the man was transported to the hospital.

While the driver is not believed to have been impaired, Tempe police are investigating if impairment was a factor for the pedestrian, officers say.
