3 major Valley freeways to have closures this weekend

PHOENIX — Closures on three major freeways headline a busy weekend of road restrictions in the Valley.

Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between 51st and 67th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday as part of ongoing construction of the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

The westbound I-10 on-ramps at 27th, 35th and 43rd avenues will also be closed during that time.

The eastbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway will be closed between State Route 51 and 56th Street in northeast Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for zone work setup as part of a widening project.

The eastbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Cave Creek Road and Tatum Boulevard will be closed, as will the northbound S.R. 51 ramps to eastbound Loop 101 and the northbound S.R. 51 on-ramp at Union Hills Drive.

Interstate 17 at Happy Valley Road will be closed southbound from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. and northbound from 10 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for bridge girder installation.

Seventh Street will be closed in both directions at Loop 101 in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday as part of the Loop 101 widening project. Both Loop 101 off-ramps will remain open, but traffic will be limited to right turns.

The Southbound Loop 101 right lane will also be closed in areas between U.S. 60 and Elliott Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for a widening project.

U.S. 60 will be narrowed to three lanes between Interstate 10 and Mill Avenue in Tempe from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday for barrier wall repairs.

The westbound U.S. 60 ramp to the eastbound I-10 will be closed, as will the westbound U.S. 60 HOV ramp to westbound I-10.

Westbound U.S. 60 drivers can connect to eastbound I-10 by exiting to southbound Mill Avenue or southbound Priest Drive and using westbound Baseline Road.
