PHOENIX — More than a dozen airports in Arizona will receive millions of dollars in federal grant money for infrastructure improvements, the Federal Aviation Administration announced Monday.

The 13 airports are part of the second round of funding in the agency’s Airport Improvement Program. In the first round, 17 Arizona airports were awarded $21 million.

In this round, the Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix will receive $2.7 million to reconstruct a taxiway.

The latest grants also include nearly $1.5 million for snow removal equipment at the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport and $1.1 million to construct a taxiway at Mesa’s Falcon Field Airport.

Other city’s airports benefiting from the grants include Yuma, Show Low, Safford, Payson, Parker, Page, Lake Havasu, Eloy, Coolidge and Bullhead City.

The grants are for updating infrastructure, which can include lighting and pavement improvements, master plan studies and perimeter installation.

The FAA will give a total of $3.18 billion to U.S. airports as part of its program.

“This significant investment in airport improvements in Arizona will fund construction and rehabilitation projects that will help maintain high levels of safety in U.S. aviation,” U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao said in a press release.
