Scottsdale man arrested after allegedly sexually exploiting 3-year-old girl

PHOENIX — Scottsdale police said a 57-year-old man was arrested Thursday after they received a tip that included hundreds of electronic files that allegedly showed the suspect sexually exploiting a 3-year-old female.

Police said the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Thursday sent detectives from its Special Victims Unit a cyber tip that showed Mitchell Mielke having sexual contact with the girl.

Police said Mielke had been helping watch and care for the girl, who was the child of an acquaintance, for more than a year.

According to police, the criminal activity occurred at the suspect’s residence.

Mielke is facing numerous counts of sexual conduct with a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor, which are Class 2 felonies.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
