Yes sir: Knights picked, preparing for Scottsdale Medieval Times opening

PHOENIX – Call them sir.

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, which is scheduled to open this summer in Scottsdale, has selected its first nine knights.

The gentlemen are currently learning their craft in a three-month training program outside Dallas, where they are immersed in a world of horse care and riding, weaponry, performance/choreography and physical conditioning.

The fledgling knights earned their titles through auditions earlier this year.

Medieval Times serves four-course meals while performers compete in jousting, sword fighting and other knightly games during a two-hour show.

The Scottsdale castle will be the company’s 10th U.S. location and first in Arizona.

Construction began on Via de Ventura just west of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway in April 2018.

A specific opening date hasn’t been announced, but the venue provided photos this week to show what kind of progress has been made.
