Gila River breaks two world records for biggest game of bingo

PHOENIX — Gila River Hotels & Casinos broke two Guinness World Records on Thursday, according to a press release.

The casino group celebrated its 25th anniversary by inviting 200 bingo players to join in the festivities.

“To celebrate 25 amazing years, we wanted to mark the milestone with a big event where our incredible guests and partners could come out and have a great time with us,” said Dominic Orozco, chief marketing officer of Gila River Hotels & Casinos.

“We are so proud of all we’ve accomplished in the community since we opened our doors in 1994. We are glad we were able to celebrate by bringing two Guinness World Records titles to Arizona and make bingo history at Lone Butte.”

Players in the record-breaking event started lining up at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night for the 7:30 a.m. signup time on Thursday. The lucky winner elected to choose the grand prize of $2,500 in free bonus play at Gila River’s casinos.

Arizona Coyotes mascot Howler, who was blindfolded, assisted former Cardinal Michael Bankston in the selection of the bingo balls.
