Phoenix police release sketch of suspect who strangled, raped woman

PHOENIX — Phoenix police released a sketch Wednesday of a suspect who allegedly exposed and fondled himself near a day care last week, then later attacked and sexually assaulted a woman who worked nearby.

Police described the suspect as a white male, 35 to 50 years old, with brown curly or wavy shoulder-length hair and a full beard.

He is about 6 feet tall with a medium build and was last seen wearing jeans and a blue plaid shirt with a white thermal shirt underneath, police said.

Police said they responded to a report of a man exposing and fondling himself near an animal clinic and a day care around 3:45 p.m. on March 28.

Police did not find him in the area near Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway at the time.

Around 7 p.m., they received a call from an animal clinic staffer who reported a sexual assault.

She said the same man attacked her and strangled her from behind, and when she woke up, she “felt she was sexually assaulted,” according to police.
