Man sentenced to prison for stealing $100K from Arizona’s Medicaid agency

PHOENIX — Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Monday that a former medical transport driver was sentenced to 27 months in prison for stealing over $100,000 from Arizona’s Medicaid agency.

David Henry Meyer of Tucson, 72, pleaded guilty to theft, a class 4 felony, according to a press release.

In addition to prison time, he will have to pay the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System $100,782.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report in October 2017 of internal theft at a medical transportation business, which suspected Meyer of submitting false records and defrauding AHCCCS of $3,000.

Further investigation uncovered that Meyer had been submitting false patient transportation records for nine months, stealing much more than the business previously thought.
