There’s no place like dome: Unique Paradise Valley house hits market

PHOENIX – A one-of-a-kind Paradise Valley home with a star-studded history is on the market.

The exotic abode, known as The Dome at Casa Blanca, served as the Sultan’s Table restaurant and cocktail lounge at the Casa Blanca Inn until the property was converted to a luxury gated community.

The Casa Blanca Inn was a winter getaway for Hollywood stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin and Betty Grable, and President Dwight Eisenhower was known to vacation there, according to Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty.

The home, located just east of Camelback Mountain, near Chaparral and Invergordon roads, was listed last month with an asking price of $1,175,000.

It’s modestly sized at 2,339 square feet with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, but it’s the roof that makes the house unlike any other.

The family room is circled by high windows and sits under a dramatic 25-foot-high onion-shaped dome.

The residence is surrounded by a garden patio, and the community amenities include tennis courts, pools and spas.

“Not only is it a magnificently designed historic treasure, there are countless stories about all the legendary celebrities who have visited The Dome and have stayed at the Casa Blanca Inn,” Grant Almquist of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s said in a press release.
