Luke Perry, ‘90210,’ ‘Riverdale’ star dies of stroke complications

Actor Luke Perry, who starred in the popular 1990s TV hit “Beverly Hills, 90210,” died Monday, days after suffering a stroke.

He was 52.

Perry was hospitalized Wednesday after collapsing at his Los Angeles-area home following a massive stroke.

The actor had been appearing on the CW’s “Riverdale,” playing the father of one of the main cast members.

The Fredericktown, Ohio, native is survived by his children, Jack, 21, and Sophie, 18, siblings and a fiancee.

Publicist Arnold Robinson said Perry’s family and friends were with him when he died.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning,” Robinson said in a statement.

Perry’s turn as bad boy Dylan McKay on the teen-centered drama set in ritzy Southern California enclave shot him to fame.

He left the show in 1995 after five years. Perry returned for another stint as McKay that lasted from 1998 to 2000.

The show recently was revived for six episodes with most of the original cast. Perry had not been mentioned as joining the group.

Perry has had roles in a handful of films, including the lead in the bullriding release,”8 Seconds.”

He appeared in HBO’s prison drama “Oz” and voiced cartoons like “The Incredible Hulk” and “Mortal Kombat.” In recent years he starred in the series “Ties That Bind” and “Body of Proof.”
