PHOENIX – One of the state’s most acclaimed craft breweries has set up camp in downtown Phoenix.

Arizona Wilderness debuted its second location this week at Roosevelt and Second streets, in the heart of the blossoming Roosevelt Row Arts District.

The new spot, dubbed Arizona Wilderness DTPHX, will hold its grand opening March 1, which coincides with the next First Friday Art Walk.

If you want to beat those crowds, however, a soft opening was launched Monday.

“We ask y’all to be understanding and awesome customers of our brand new beer garden. We’re treating the next two weeks as practice runs to get ready for March 1,” the brewers said on social media.

According to DTPHX.org, the new location has a 30-tap bar on its 6,000-square-foot patio.

The interior houses another bar and a food counter with a burger-centric menu.

In a 2017 blog post announcing the brewery’s expansion, founder Jonathan Buford said the downtown venue’s design was inspired German beer gardens as well as San Francisco’s “it is what it is” style.

Arizona Wilderness’ Gilbert location, which will remain the company’s headquarters, opened at Guadalupe Road and Arizona Avenue in 2013.

In 2014, it was named the world’s best new brewery by RateBeer.com.

We want to hear from you.
