Rep. Andy Biggs invites Border Patrol agent to State of the Union

PHOENIX – A Border Patrol agent in Arizona who grew up in Douglas will be among the guests attending Tuesday’s presidential State of the Union.

Art Del Cueto, who is union chief of the Tucson Sector, accepted the invitation from U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs.

Del Cueto has been a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, along with the National Border Patrol Council, the agents’ union.

“Art has dedicated his life to enforcing our immigration laws and protecting Americans,” Biggs said in a statement released Monday.

Del Cueto has been with the Border Patrol since 2003 and has met Trump on other occasions.

“I am honored to have been invited to the State of the Union,” Cueto said in a statement.

“It’s even more of an honor to have been invited by Congressman Andy Biggs. He has always been a great friend, not just to me, but to all the Border Patrol agents.”

Biggs, in his second term in the House, said he was looking forward to Trump’s second State of the Union.
