Earth, Wind & Fire will turn Phoenix into ‘Boogie Wonderland’ in March

Dec 12, 2018, 4:15 AM

PHOENIX – It will be “September” in March when R&B legends Earth, Wind & Fire get their groove on in Phoenix.

On Tuesday, the seven-time Grammy winners announced a March 17 show at Comerica Theatre.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Monday at 10 a.m., with Live Nation and Citi Cardmember presales starting Friday at 10 a.m.

According to the band’s website, the Phoenix show is one of only three that have been confirmed for 2019 so far.

On Dec. 1, the band said on Twitter that new tour dates would be announced soon.

Earth, Wind & Fire, who released their debut album in 1970, blended funk, soul, R&B and gospel styles into a hugely popular, danceable sound.

They produced eight top 10 albums and a string of massive hits, including “Shining Star,” “After the Love Has Gone,” “Boogie Wonderland” and “September.”

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and received a lifetime achievement Grammy in 2016.

The band’s current lineup includes longtime members Philip Bailey on vocals, Verdine White on bass and drummer Ralph Johnson.

Founder Maurice White, the band’s main songwriter and producer, died in 2016.
