US Postal Service to suspend delivery, retail service for Bush’s funeral

PHOENIX — If you are looking to send holiday presents at the post office on Wednesday, you will need to make new plans.
The U.S. Postal Service will suspend most of its services at all of its facilities nationwide in remembrance of former President George H.W. Bush, it was recently announced.
“Out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to honor his vast contributions to our country during his lifetime…the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity,” a statement on its website read.
“We will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that our network remains fluid and we do not experience any impacts to our package delivery operations that might negatively affect our customers or business partners during the remainder of our busy holiday season.”

All federal agencies and offices will be closed.
Bush’s casket is lying in state at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C. It will remain there until his funeral at Washington National Cathedral on Wednesday.
