PHOENIX – Pull on your favorite Christmas sweater if you’re going out early over Thanksgiving weekend in the Phoenix area, but you’ll probably end up tying it around your waist as the day unwinds.

The holiday forecast calls for pleasant, mild days bookended by chilly mornings and evenings, with only a minuscule chance for rain, according to the National Weather Service.

After an overnight low of 54 degrees, expect partly cloudy conditions on Thanksgiving Day with a high of 72 and light winds in the afternoon – perfect weather for a football game in the park or a hike before a big meal on the patio.

Other than a 5 percent chance Thursday, no rain is expected at least through Tuesday.

If your Black Friday plans include waiting in line for stores to open or getting an early start shopping at an outdoor mall, dress warmly, as overnight lows will dip into the 40s through the weekend.

While the skies will remain sunny and mostly clear, there will be a slight cooling trend, with forecast highs of 71 on Friday, 70 on Saturday and 68 on Sunday.
