PHOENIX — Four students were hospitalized after a school bus was rear-ended by an SUV in north Scottsdale on Wednesday afternoon.

According to ABC15, the driver of the SUV was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The driver, later identified as 63-year-old Michael Muller, died as a result of his injuries, authorities announced Thursday.

The students’ injuries weren’t life-threatening, according to a statement from the Cave Creek Unified School District.

The district said the bus was carrying middle school and high school students at 136th Street and Rio Verde Drive when the accident occurred.

The accident occurred after Muller rear-ended the bus as it was stopped to unload students.

Rio Verde was restricted in the area while the scene was being investigated and cleared.

The district told parents they could meet their kids at 120th Street and Rio Verde.

ABC15 reported that about two dozen students were on the bus.
