One dead in Chandler after shooter calls in incident, stays on scene

PHOENIX — Detectives from the Chandler Police Department are investigating a homicide after receiving a call from the suspect who shot the deceased victim.

Police were called to the scene near the Loop 101 and Ray Road after an original call was made reporting shots fired in the area.

While the officers were enroute, a second call came to police dispatch, this time from the suspected shooter who said that he had shot another male.

Officers found the man who called in the shooting, who remained on scene and located the victim who had sustained fatal gun shot wounds.

Detectives have brought the shooter in for questioning and the investigation is ongoing.

According to Detective Seth Tyler, there’s a possibility that the surviving man could be deemed a victim in the case and that currently he doesn’t face any charges.

Tyler said there weren’t any witnesses to the fight and that police are still trying to piece together what happened.
