Two Phoenix College students selected for NASA scholar program

Sep 27, 2018, 12:32 PM

PHOENIX — Two Phoenix College students were selected for a NASA program that will give them a chance to interact with the space agency’s employees and learn about science and engineering careers.

Tracy Concialdi and Adam Jimenez were among 319 community college students from across the nation picked for the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars experience at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

For a final project, students attending will form teams to create simulated Mars exploration companies.

The program, which includes a five-week online session and a three-day onsite experience, is funded in part by the Minority University Research and Education Program.

According to a Phoenix College press release, Jimenez will graduate in December with an associate degree in electrical technology and plans to transfer to Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space Exploration and work with robotics.

Concialdi is working on an electrical engineering associate degree. He hopes to get a bachelor’s at a four-year university and perhaps work for NASA.

We want to hear from you.
