PHOENIX — Running through a stop sign would eventually put two men behind bars in Arizona after authorities stopped the car and found nearly 200 pounds of marijuana.
Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday a deputy pulled the multipurpose vehicle over near Interstate 8 and Midway Road near Casa Grande. They said the driver, Oscar Antonio Mora Olias, 21, and a passenger, Francisco Martinez Moreno, 44, got out the car and ran into the desert.
More deputies and Border Patrol agents arrived to search for the suspect; meanwhile, deputies found 191 pounds of marijuana in the trunk and back seat of the vehicle.
“You never know what you are going to uncover during a traffic stop. Our deputies did a fantastic job getting the suspects and stopping these drugs from making it any further into our state,” Sheriff Mark Lamb said in a statement.
The two men faces charges that included transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.
