Silver Alert canceled for 79-year-old Scottsdale man with memory loss

PHOENIX — A Silver Alert for a 79-year-old Scottsdale man who suffers from memory loss was canceled around 1 a.m. Sunday morning.

Jaime Garcia-Rojas, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound man with scars and a large bump on his forehead, went missing from his home just north of McDowell Road and 64th Street around 5 p.m. Saturday.

He was located safe and well, the Scottsdale Police Department said, and reunited with his family.

Garcia-Rojas has brain cancer, the police document said.

“He wandered out of the house accidentally and is very confused,” the document said. “(He) won’t ask for help and will continue to wander.”

It added that the man can walk for a few hundred feet before resting and then continuing.

Garcia-Rojas is bald with brown eyes and a mustache. He was last seen wearing blue pajama bottoms, a white shirt and sandals.

Police said it was believed Garcia-Rojas would not be able to find his way home due to the memory loss.
