PHOENIX — Three people were killed and at least 20 others were injured during a shooting at a Madden tournament in Jacksonville Landing, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
In addition to the two gunshot victims who were killed, the suspect, believed to be 24-year-old David Katz of Baltimore, shot himself dead, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department chief Kurtis Wilson said in a press conference broadcast on the sheriff office’s Facebook page.
Around 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, Jacksonville police was alerted about a shooter at a Madden 19 Tournament event at a Chicago Pizza restaurant.
Wilson said the response team arrived two minutes later. The area was evacuated and the SWAT and bomb teams arrived for precautionary measures, Wilson said.
In one stream, gunfire can be heard before the console’s controllers are disconnected (WARNING: Graphic content of the sounds of gunshots heard and captured during the tournament).
Wilson said that in addition to the three people killed — including the suspect — and the nine injured by gunshot, 12 more people were injured fleeing the scene.
Seven gunshot victims were transported to the hospital and two others went without assistance, Wilson said.
Those nine victims are currently in stable condition, Wilson said.
The police department has yet to determine motive or if the suspect knew the victims.
