Ducey orders flags to half-staff following death of Sen. John McCain
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey ordered that flags around the state be flown at half-staff following the news that Sen. John McCain passed away on Saturday.

PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey ordered that flags around the state be flown at half-staff following the news that Sen. John McCain passed away on Saturday.
McCain was 81.
“I have ordered all flags be lowered to half-staff in honor and remembrance of the incredible life of Sen. John McCain,” Ducey wrote on Twitter. “May God rest his soul and look over his entire family. Our state and our nation mourn together.”
In a separate Tweet, Ducey issued a statement reacting to the news of McCain’s passing.
The governor called McCain an “American hero,” saying the longtime politician and Vietnam War veteran “brought us above partisanship and challenged us to be great.”
McCain was diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most aggressive form of cancer that begins in the brain, in July 2017.
On Friday, he discontinued cancer treatment.
