PHOENIX — Officials at a Scottsdale resort said their hotel would be closed all week after a power outage caused by a monsoon storm damaged two generators.

In a weekend tweet, officials originally said they were hoping to reopen Talking Stick Resort near the Loop 101 and Talking Stick Way on Tuesday after “assessing damages” from a weekend storm.

By Monday morning, the reopening was scheduled for Aug. 19.

The power outage occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday after a monsoon storm. The main generator and a backup generator failed. Nearly 900 guests were evacuated as a precaution. Some guests were brought back to their rooms to collect their belongings on Saturday.

Flooding damaged the first floor of the building.

Those guests were also provided transportation and relocated to nearby hotels at no extra cost.

In a statement on Saturday, a Talking Stick Resort representative said officials were hoping to have the hotel “fully operational as soon as possible.

“The safety and comfort of our guests is our top priority and we apologize for any inconvenience. We are working through the impact of the storm as quickly as we can,” the statement read.

The Arizona State Poker Championship, which was set to be held at the hotel starting on Sunday, was canceled.
