PHOENIX — The Arizona Cardinals will hold a fundraiser on Saturday to raise money for the 100 Club of Arizona.

The team will fundraise in honor of fallen Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper Tyler Edenhofer, who was shot and killed while on duty last month, during their annual Red and White practice.

The money raised during the practice at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale will benefit Edenhofer’s family and will support the two other troopers who were injured in the shooting, Sean Rodecap and Dalin Dorris.

“We heard about trooper Edenhofer and the other two troopers that were injured. We felt like this was an opportunity to do a Red and White practice, but also add some blue to it,” Cardinals President Michael Bidwill told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday.

The fundraiser will involve a barbecue held on the South lawn, which was located near Gate 1 at the southwest side of the stadium. There will also be a 50/50 raffle during Saturday’s scrimmage.

“When you hear sad stories like this of one of troopers going down, being killed, off a simple routine, is definitely sad,” Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson said.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”

Evan Boehm, the offensive lineman for the Cardinals, encouraged fans to donate to the fundraiser.

“Donating to this cause, donating to his family, making sure they live well the rest of their lives is huge,” Boehm said.

“We need more people like Tyler Edenhofer to go out and do the job he did, making people safe.”

Gates will open at 12:30 p.m. for the scrimmage. The event will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

We want to hear from you.
